| Date: | Thursday 11 June 2009 |
| Venue: | Trent Vineyard Church Lenton Lane Nottingham |
We kicked off the latest OnCourse season with a role-reversal when Neil Horsley, NDE, took the lead for the evening and posed searing (!) questions to our regular and long-term Chair, Rob Pittam. Rob was joined in the hot seat by former BBC journalist John Hemmingway who now runs his own PR company.
Rob works mainly for BBC2 Working Lunch but also appears regularly on Breakfast News and the News Channel - formerly News24. He also writes news reports and features for the BBC's website. His role is to travel the country reporting on business issues, covering everything from kitchen-table companies to multi-national corporations.
Before that, Rob was a business correspondent for the BBC in the East Midlands. He has worked in television for fifteen years and has also worked in local radio and regional newspapers.
John Hemmingway, John Hemmingway Communications Ltd
John runs a successful PR company with a range of national and regional businesses including the housebuilder Barratt and the national anti-drug charity DARE. John moved into PR from journalism where he was with BBC TV and Radio in Nottingham for 15 years as a reporter and producer. Before that, he was with leading newspapers in London and Yorkshire. He has travelled widely in Africa and Asia – working for newspapers in what is now Zimbabwe and in Australia - including the biggest selling daily, The Sun, in Melbourne.
John is a keen blues musician – playing with live bands in and around Nottingham – and is a collector of vintage guitars.
